Making an Appointment
The physician’s medical assistant has been instructed to ask why you need to see the doctor. Your response will enable the medical assistant to schedule the appropriate length of time for your appointment. If it is necessary to cancel an appointment, please notify your doctor’s office as soon as possible. This courtesy will provide us with an opportunity to care for another patient in your place. A medical assistant will be pleased to arrange another appointment for you.
Your First Visit and Understanding Patient Scheduling
On your first visit please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment so that you have time to register with the receptionist. The receptionist will ask you to complete a registration form in order to establish your medical record and obtain your current insurance information. We ask that you bring your current insurance card(s) with you to this visit and all subsequent visits, as well as your co-payment, if applicable.
On future visits, please check in at the reception desk, so your information can be reviewed for accuracy. You can help us serve you better by notifying the receptionist or doctor’s office of any changes in name, address, telephone number or insurance coverage since the time of your last visit. Verifying this information at each visit will ensure that you receive the most appropriate medical care, and also ensure that the services you received are covered by your insurance company.
Doctors try to follow their scheduled appointments as closely as possible. However, due to unavoidable circumstances or emergencies, a doctor may have to spend additional time with a patient who may have had an appointment prior to yours. This may result in a delay in seeing your doctor. We appreciate your patience and understanding in such circumstances.
Billing,Insurance and Payment for Services
Patients are ultimately responsible for the payment of their medical bills. Our Office staff will be glad to work with you regarding your medical bill.
Some insurance companies pay the total amount of the bill, while others pay less. Some insurance companies also require deductibles or pay percentages. You are responsible for the deductible, payment of the bill, or the balance of the bill after the insurance company has made payment.
If your insurance requires a co-payment, the co-payment is due at the time of your visit. If your insurance requires pre-authorization for certain procedures or hospital admissions, you should inform your physician’s office. This will enable you to secure the necessary pre-authorization and avoid possible delays in receiving the care you require.
Obtaining Your Test Results
If you have tests performed the office may call you, or request you to call the office at a specified time to obtain the results. Your results may be given to you by the doctor or the doctor’s medical assistant.
